A New Study is Encouraging Worm Eating

There are a lot of conversations about various steps people should take in order to save the environment.

“Climate lockdowns” have even been loosely floated, whereas there’s a very intense, left-wing push for everyone to use electric vehicles. California’s even got a plan in the works to completely prohibit the sales of gas-fueled cars by the time 2035 gets here.

This isn’t the last of advice that Americans have given, though, in the name of saving the environment. Now, a brand new study out of South Korea is advising people to consider the merits of eating worms, according to Breitbart News.

The Merits of Worm Eating?

Multiple scientists in South Korea claim consuming worms and other insects is “of interest,” owing to threats to the environment and the economic expenses of protein from animals.

The population uptick that’s expected to occur by the years 2050 and 2100 is also a factor in various scientists and other officials considering alternative ways for people to eat.

Scientists argue that feeding a larger population with meat from sheep, cows, pigs, and other animals is going to put a strain on natural resources.

They also made sure to express their disdain for the impact that cows have on climate change, owing to their methane emissions.

Therefore, scientists are branding insect consumption by humans as “like that of meat” and a great supply of required nutrition sources. However, they also concede that the notion of consuming worms and other insects tends to be frowned upon by many people.

Working Around Consumer Backlash?

Some companies have begun marketing worms and insects as fun, tasty snacks as a means of bringing consumers around to eating them.

On top of this, many scientists believe sneaking worms and insects into other foods that people already consume is another way of moving along the push for insect consumption.

Numerous consumers, however, aren’t ready to trade in cows and pigs for worms and other insects anytime soon. People like eating real meat from animals and don’t feel a heavy need to downgrade in the way that scientists have suggested.

Here in the United States, the push to make everyone eat bugs for the sake of the environment definitely isn’t likely to fly with very many folks.

If anything, this has been often criticized as a plan that elites plan to impose on everyday folks as they themselves continue to consume farm animals like pigs, cows, chickens, sheep, etc.

Time will tell how other countries ultimately respond to what South Korean scientists are pushing.

What do you think about scientists saying people should open up to eating worms and other insects, due to the environment and expected population growth by 2050 and 2100? Feel free to share with us in the comments area.
