Joe Biden has approved sending 1,500 troops to the US-Mexico border ahead of the expiration of Title 42. Title 42 made it easier to deport illegal immigrants on the spot, but it expires on May 11.
At first, it sounds like good news: Biden is actually protecting the border for once? Though no, a deeper look shows that’s not the case.
The Truth About the Deployment
Soldiers will deploy in 90-day rotations. They will work in conjunction with Border Patrol, mainly to handle driving and paperwork so border patrol can do its job.
Border Patrol’s job under Biden is to process illegal immigrants and let most of them into America. General Pat Ryder with the Pentagon said the soldiers will help fill “capability gaps” and “monitoring,” as well as help out with “data entry.”
Yes, America’s fighting men and women are being sent to the southern border to do data entry.

What the Statistics Show
Statistics show even under Title 42 many illegals were not returned home. In fact, only 46% of illegals apprehended at the southern border were sent home under Title 42 under Biden.
Since he took office, there have been 5.5 million illegal immigrants caught at the southern border. Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that (last year) of 1.3 million illegals caught at the border, only 360,000 were sent home under Title 42.
There’s no doubt that the end of Title 42 is going to include a huge surge and it would make sense to secure the border. Whereas instead, troops will simply make sure more illegals can be “properly” processed by Border Patrol.
These soldiers aren’t there to *stop* illegal immigration. Read it. We’re using the military to help process illegal aliens into the country because Border Patrol alone can’t grant a surge of asylum applications fast enough.https://t.co/LLIgWN5jZ8

The Bottom Line
Many illegals arrive and have a CFI (Credible Fear Interview) in which they explain why they have a reasonable fear of harm to themselves if they return home.
The soldiers will free up Border Patrol to do more of these interviews and allow more illegal immigrants into America under asylum laws.
