Democrats have been quick to point out how the emails are a glimpse into Dr. Anthony Fauci’s busy life.
They claim Fauci was communicating tirelessly during the opening months of the pandemic. Other parts of the leftist narrative assert how quickly the evil Republicans have been to discredit the good doctor since the emails were released.
As expected, Democrats have focused on the emails to Fauci regarding Americans thanking him for his work. This goes from Mark Zuckerberg asking for guidance on how to create a Facebook COVID-19 information hub to the medical director of the National Football League Players Association seeking guidance on how the league could have a season.

Fauci lied. According to Rand Paul, Fauci insisted that the US was not sponsoring gain of function research in China; however, Fauci admitted precisely the opposite in one of the many emails leaked to the public.
Paul appeared on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, amid these latest developments. The Kentucky GOP senator claimed that tens of thousands of emails obtained by Buzzfeed News and the Washington Post proved Fauci was involved in the development of COVID-19.
The Wuhan Theory
In the early days, Dr. Fauci and his colleagues were aware of the possibility that COVID-19 had slipped from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. Experts denied the contentious notion last year, calling it very implausible. There is no proof to back that up.
However, the hypothesis has recently resurfaced, amid criticism of an inconclusive international investigation into the virus’ origins; this comes alongside new claims of COVID-related disease in the region weeks before it was formally recognized.
The country’s largest biomedical research institute director explained in an email sent in January 2020 to Dr. Fauci that the virus’ strange characteristics could signify COVID was engineered; this prompted Dr. Fauci to claim he would contact the director by phone.

In April 2020, Dr. Fauci received an email from Francis Collins (the head of the National Institute of Health) with the line of subject reading “conspiracy gains momentum.” The response from the doctor is completely redacted.
Dr. Fauci stated in May 2021 that he does not believe the virus evolved naturally and that he supports an investigation.
The Mask Fiasco
Dr. Fauci remarked in an email conversation that masks are primarily for infected persons to prevent virus transmission to healthy people, rather than for protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection.
He went on to say that store-bought masks are ineffective at keeping out viruses that are tiny enough to pass through most materials.

A friend in the Chinese public health profession wrote the following month. In his writing, he warned about being misquoted in the media for claiming that the West is making a great error by not encouraging mask use.
