DeSantis has pushed back against the narrative that Americans need to still follow covid restrictions, even after receiving a vaccine. At a press conference De santis said the following:
“I also think it’s a problem that people, where, you’re telling people to get a vaccine and yet people who have been vaccinated for months are wearing two masks,” “If the vaccine is effective, why would you be wearing two masks? Like some of these folks are doing. It doesn’t make sense,” he said.
DeSantis empfisised that once vaccinated, wearing a mask should not be nessiscary:
“Once you start pulling back, the thing you don’t want to have is to start having a plateauing that is so high, that inevitably things are going to go back up,” Fauci said recently. “You’ve got to get that baseline down lower than it is now particularly in light of the fact that we have some worrisome variants.”
“So, you know, my view is, if you get a vaccine, the vaccines are effective, you’re immune. And so act immune. If you tell people the opposite then, gee, if it’s not effective for them and it’s not gonna change anything, then what’s the point of going through it?”
Fauci had said earlier that vasccinated persons still need to wear masks and follow covid restrictions:
“Once you start pulling back, the thing you don’t want to have is to start having a plateauing that is so high, that inevitably things are going to go back up,” Fauci said recently. “You’ve got to get that baseline down lower than it is now particularly in light of the fact that we have some worrisome variants.”
Fauci has made some contrversial comments over peoples individual freedoms. The comments where made on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” on Friday.
“Does it shock you, frustrate you, how do you feel when you are peppered with questions about, you know, restrictions and freedoms — and the dead, the 560,000 dead are not mentioned?” Reid asked Fauci.
“Well, it’s very frustrating, because, you know, as a public health official, I’m very much aware of this issue of COVID-19 fatigue, about people really being worn down and tired of the kinds of restrictions that we have when we do public health guidelines,” he said.
