A Christian podcast show has skyrocketed to the top of all podcast charts, beating political shows like The New York Times, NPR, and The Washington Post.
“The Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike Schmitz featuring Jeff Cavins,” went straight to the top of Apple’s iTunes podcast list within 48 hours of its release.
Unlike shows where the host spews their opinion or fierce political rhetoric, “The Bible in a Year” features Fr. Mike’s voice reading a portion of the Bible for about 20 minutes a day, plus some context from the host. According to critics, the small “bite-sized” nature of the show allows people to absorb the information and not consume too much to handle.
“It eliminates that barrier of entry for people,” Fr. Mike says. “Just press ‘play’ for 20 minutes every day.”
Fr. Mike was successful by “making the kind of show people wanted to hear.”
“I was getting all wrapped up about current events. They can’t define my life,” “he says. It’s why he often turned to The New Testament in audiobook form, which “challenged and pushed” him without being a source of distress.” The Daily Wire pointed out.
He figured out that other podcast listeners had the same craving.
Fr. Mike was shocked by the sudden fame of his podcast:
“If someone were to ask me two months ago what kind of show could you create that would resonate so quickly and so across the board with so many people, I would not have chosen getting a microphone and read the Bible,”
According to the podcast’s website:
“Unlike any other Bible podcast, Ascension’s Bible in a Year Podcast follows a reading plan inspired by The Great Adventure Bible Timeline, a ground-breaking approach to understanding salvation history developed by renowned Catholic Bible scholar Jeff Cavins.”
“With this podcast, you won’t just read the Bible in a year … you’ll finally understand how all the pieces of the Bible fit together to tell an amazing story that continues in your life today!”
“Listen and…
1) Read the ENTIRE Bible;
2) Feel more confident about your understanding of Scripture;
3) Experience the transformative power of God’s Word in your daily life;
4) Start seeing the world through the lens of Scripture.”
