Bomb Threat ROCKS Pope’s Brother’s Home…

A hoax bomb threat shattered the quiet life of Pope Leo XIV’s brother in a Chicago suburb, igniting fears of political violence amid a fiery clash between the pontiff and President Trump.

Precise Timeline of the Bomb Threat Response

New Lenox Police Department received the bomb threat report at 6:29 p.m. CT on April 15, 2026, targeting John Prevost’s residence on Sojourn Road. Officers immediately established a perimeter and evacuated nearby homes. Will County Sheriff’s Office deployed K9 explosive-detection units for a thorough search. Investigators cleared the scene that evening after confirming no devices or hazards present. No injuries occurred during the operation.

Key Players in the Incident

John Prevost, retired Catholic school principal and brother to Pope Leo XIV, resides in this quiet suburb 40 miles southwest of Chicago. Police Chief Micah Nuesse leads the active investigation, emphasizing hoax reports as serious felonies under Illinois law. President Trump recently criticized the Pope on Truth Social for opposing U.S.-led wars, while praising another brother, Louis in Florida. No evidence links Trump directly to the threat.

Prevost maintains daily Wordle games with his pontiff brother, underscoring family bonds amid global scrutiny. Local mayor Tim Baldermann noted the threat’s politically tinged language. Police seek public tips anonymously through their hotline at 815-485-2500 or village website. Chief Nuesse provided no suspect updates to EWTN on April 16.

Political Backdrop Fuels Speculation

Days before the threat, Trump derided Pope Leo XIV as terrible on foreign policy after the Pope condemned U.S. wars in Iran and Lebanon. Trump contrasted Leo with supporter Louis Prevost. Sources unanimously report no proven connection between rhetoric and the hoax. Police frame it as a local crime, though timing raises eyebrows. Common sense demands swift prosecution to deter copycats, aligning with law-and-order priorities.

New Lenox PD posted on Facebook that evening: threat unsubstantiated, charges possible. ABC7 and FOX32 confirmed details, with officers lingering for neighborhood vigilance. The email threat went to both New Lenox PD and Will County Sheriff’s Office, prompting rapid coordination.

Lasting Ripples from the Hoax

Short-term disruptions included evacuations and police costs in the residential area. John Prevost and neighbors faced direct anxiety; broader Catholic communities watch amid U.S.-Vatican tensions. Long-term, papal family security likely tightens, potentially escalating rhetoric if motives surface. Hoax scrutiny on high-profile targets increases, deterring frivolous acts through felony enforcement.

Media from EWTN to local outlets align on facts: no explosives, ongoing probe. Chief Nuesse’s view prevails—treat as serious offense. New Republic notes rhetorical context but finds no tangible Trump link, a prudent stance given absent evidence. Police prioritize origin tracing over speculation.

  1. This was political violence, it has been ignited, which is the purpose of your writing.
It is more senseless than the usual political violence. As a lapsed Catholic no one has been more critical of the Popes Francis and Leo than I. All because of their political nonsense, aka “Liberation Theology”.
As a retired high school principal, I feel as I have a bond with John Prevost.
I was going to wait to comment on the bomber until we learn which side he represents. Until recently, Violence had emanated from the left. Very, recently some of the younger ones on the right have adopted it.
